In our efforts to address poverty in a community,

what if dependency was addressed

and solved, rather than created and amplified?

What does it take to move a community full of people

who have historically needed help

to being a community full of people who help one another?

CornerStone seeks to facilitate relationships

that encourageand empower people to

seek God’s best for their own lives.

Promote Opportunities

Jobs for Life (JFL)

For the past two years, CornerStone has partnered with area churches to faciliate this soft skills job training course that prepares the unemployed and under-employed for the workplace.

Jobs for Life Business Network

As a continuation of the JFL class, the Business Network was formed to assist CornerStone in securing potential places of employment for students who are successful in the JFL classes.

Encourage Relationships

Neighborhood Conversations

Cornerstone consistently facilitates regular gathering of neighbors in hopes of encouraging relationships within the community and to provide a space for residents to share concerns and celebrate with each other in regards to their neighborhood.  Indigenous leadership is encouraged and developed in this context.

Awaken Hope

Annual Regional Conference on Poverty

Supported primarily through corporate sponsorships, CornerStone hosts an annual conference that brings together churches, businesses and community officials to reflect on local efforts taken towards addressing poverty.  Each year, the focus returns to seeking solutions on how to continue the journey towards “non-toxic charity” in our community.
